Answers to Q&A

What INSPIRED you to become a model?

Despite most people being kind, growing up (as a tall, dark-skinned girl) meant hearing a lot of comments or “jokes” about my physical appearance that definitely affected my confidence level as a kid. Modelling was always something I found interesting but didn't have the confidence to pursue until after I decided to work on gaining a stronger sense of self.

The process of creating art has always been something that I’ve enjoyed & after meeting like-minded creatives, freelance modelling was something that almost fell into place. I was freelancing for about a year when I decided to apply to Morgan and it’s been such a great experience thus far.

What are you most excited about when it comes to modeling?

I think it’s so cool not only meeting but working with crazy talented people on different projects; and just being a part of bringing visions to life. Although I’ve put in a lot of effort towards building my confidence before starting this journey, modelling has pushed me to do things I never thought I could & I’m really proud of how far I’ve come personally. Little me would think she's really cool.

I’m excited about this journey and hopefully other girls with similar experiences can be affirmed that they’re also beautiful as is; inside and out.

Can you share with us some advice you have for models wanting to get into the industry?

Just start. The sooner you close the gap between an idea and an action the better. I think it’s human nature to want to rationalize or be completely prepared before starting something that excites us; but if we’re not careful we either end up procrastinating or thinking ourselves out of it. It’s fine if you don’t have all the resources you wish you had or if you don’t have the most experience; as you continue to put yourself out there, gradually you will start to see and feel things falling into place. Honestly, I think that applies to most things in life.

share a fun fact about yourself!

I’m actually also a video producer! I started shooting/ editing videos when I was roughly 14, and fell in love with it since.

In my free time I also enjoy cooking & baking. My mother and aunts have been teaching me traditional Ghanaian dishes since I was a child, but I’ve been really into baking focaccia variations and pastries as of late.
