Answers to Q&A
What INSPIRED you to become a model?
I was very interested in modelling from a young age. I always loved fashion and creating my own outfits. I loved being infront of the camera and having my photo taken. Throughout my childhood I had always wanted to get into the industry but my parents weren’t super comfortable with idea of it due to how young I was and we weren’t really sure how to even get started. When I turned 19 I finally felt ready to start to pursue modelling and had applied to a few agencies but I didn’t have much luck in finding one that I felt could best represent me. It wasn’t until October of last year that Erica from B&M Models scouted me through Instagram dms. I was so excited! We set up a date to meet and so begun my modelling career. I have been so lucky and grateful for these wonderful opportunities and can’t wait to see what’s next!
What are you most excited about when it comes to modeling?
What excites me most about modelling is how it makes me feel. I danced competitively for years but ended up quitting throughout the pandemic. I felt like I had lost a part of myself after giving it up. I really missed performing on stage for an audience and truly expressing myself. I feel like I’m able to channel that same energy from my dancing years through modelling. I’m the dancer and the camera is my audience. I really enjoy being on set. I love getting to collaborate with a photographer and really use my body to create the feeling they want to portray. Working with the hair and makeup artists and stylists is so lovely. I feel like a doll getting all dressed up. I love seeing their visions come to life. I’m so grateful to be apart of the creation.
Can you share with us some advice you have for models wanting to get into the industry?
A piece of advice I would give to models wanting to get into the industry is to have full trust in yourself (and it’s definitely a lot easier said than done). It’s easy to become discouraged when faced with rejection. This rejection has nothing to do with your worth as a model. Maintaining confidence within yourself is crucial. You must trust that you are capable! Far too often we hold ourselves to unrealistic standards. There is so much diversity within the industry. There is no one else like you. You need to truly own who YOU are. There wouldn’t even be a modelling industry without uniqueness. Confidence is what makes you fierce and shine through.
share a fun fact about yourself!
One of my favourite things to do is craft. I love to create. I was born into a family of crafters. My Mom and Nana can practically make anything. I’m currently super into scrapbooking. I have this dream world in my head and it’s so lovely to see it physically displayed on paper. It’s so freeing for me. I look forward to my scrapbooking time.
