Why did you want to become a model?
It seemed like a really clever way to take up space in the world as a trans person. I am passionate about visibility activism, the more visible I am in as many spaces as possible, the safer at least one trans kid is - whether within themself or environmentally, and that’s all that matters to me. I find modeling goes hand in hand with dancing and singing/music.
What makes you special?
Not much! But I’d say my look is very unique, and again, rare in the industry. As well as being visibly trans, I also have lots of tattoos, am no longer in my 20s and have never been “skinny” enough, so I’d say I do my best to take up space and fight those norms as much as I can, rather than fitting in.
What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about soooo may things it’s unbearable. But at the top of the list is dancing and everything about music. I love singing, playing guitar and piano and just listening to music to escape. I am a professional country line dancer so that takes up a lot of my time. And on a more serious note I am passionate about queer and trans politics, and fighting for ALL human rights day in and day out.
What would you like to see changed within the fashion industry?
Eurocentric beauty standards, transphobia, fatphobia, tattoo-phobia lol - all the phobia’s. For it to embrace unique people actually, and not just in pride month or black history month, and not just the commercial industry, high fashion as well (mostly). Would be good to be more political too! Put people over profit, the industry is such a powerful tool for change it’s a shame not to use it…
Describe your dream photoshoot. When you’re not shooting, what do you do on your day off?
On a ranch……. A country western themed editorial with a bunch of hot queer and trans people and/or line dancers. Picture and video. Dressed head to toe in designer western wear, that is friendly for trans bodies also.
On my day off, dancing 90%…. Sleeping !!! or editing videos, or working with my wife, or plotting my next city to hit. No days off !!
