Answers to Q&A

What INSPIRED you to become a model?

There had been a few things that inspired me to become a model. I have been told by quite a number of people that I have the look to be a model, and I should really try it out. However, the main event that pushed me to actually look into it was this one time when I was on the bus coming home from teaching swimming lessons and I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned and this woman asked if I was a model who walked in a show she had seen. I said “no, but thank you, that's a great compliment” A few stops go by and I feel a tap on my shoulder again. It's the same woman and right before she steps off, she says “you know, you're wasting your potential, you need to contact Lizbell Agency”. Those words stuck with me and that's what pushed me to become a model ands reach out.

What are you most excited about when it comes to modeling?

What gets me most excited about modelling is the possibility that I could be walking in iconic fashion shows and be seen on posters, magazines and billboards representing worldwide brands. I am also extremely excited about the idea of travelling. I love being independent and the thought of travelling to, living in and navigating lots of different places by myself would be a dream come true.

Can you share with us some advice you have for models wanting to get into the industry?

I am fairly new to the industry, but I’ve learned the importance of having good ‘Polaroids’… These are simple, unedited photos (front, profile, full body) in good lighting, minimal/no makeup, and form-fitting clothes. We are so fortunate at Lizbell to have the amazing Leigh Dickson shoot all our polaroids.  You also need to practice your posing and walk, even if you're not doing runway yet. Learn to move confidently in front of a camera; use mirrors, record yourself and watch and learn from the pros. Stay well-groomed: clear skin, neat brows, healthy hair, and a fit but natural physique are key.

share a fun fact about yourself!

I went skydiving for the first time when I was 14. Standing at the edge of that plane door was definitely one of the most nerve wracking moments of my life. But I committed to it and took the leap. That taught me that fear doesn't have to stop you from doing bold things, and now when I walk into castings or try something out of my comfort zone, I remind myself that I've literally jumped out of a plane before, I can do this.

Another fun fact about me is I teach swimming lessons to kids and adults, which taught me a lot about patience, communication, and staying calm under pressure, all skills that surprisingly translate really well to modeling. Whether you're helping a nervous child float for the first time or adjusting quickly on a shoot, it's all about being present, adaptable, and bringing good energy to the people around you.
