Answers to Q&A
What INSPIRED you to become a model?
I had never really considered modeling until fairly late; in fact, I think I started thinking about it after participating in my old college’s fashion show which was the first time I’d taken part in a fashion-related event. One of my parents’ friends, who used to be a model herself, also mentioned to me that she thought I might be good at it, but it wasn’t until I was scouted by an agency in Montreal, which ultimately didn’t work out, that I started actively looking for opportunities. That’s when that same friend of my parents sent a photo of me to one of her friends, who turned out to be the founder of Humankind, and she offered me an audition and the rest is history!
What are you most excited about when it comes to modeling?
I think what I appreciate most is being able to serve as a vessel for an idea; I love being part of the creative process, and I believe that fashion, when used thoughtfully and ethically, is one of the most dynamic and interesting forms of expression in shaping both personal identity and that of society through form.
Can you share with us some advice you have for models wanting to get into the industry?
My career hasn't been very long, but from what I've seen and experienced, I think one of the most important things is to stay true to yourself, because it's by being yourself that you can feel good and fulfilled in the projects you undertake. I'd also say you have to be patient, building an identity and a career takes time, and that's often something that gets downplayed in the process.
share a fun fact about yourself!
A fun fact about me is that apart from modelling, I'm also in art school and I spend most of my time painting. It brings me much joy and serenity.
