Answers to Q&A
What INSPIRED you to become a model?
From the moment I stepped onto a runway in grade 5 (a small Sears fashion show my mom signed me up for), I knew there was something about fashion that just clicked with me. What started as a childhood experience quickly turned into an obsession: watching local shows, studying international runways, and soaking in every detail of design. By middle school, I had picked up photography, learning the ins and outs of a camera, but also realizing how much I loved being in front of one. Capturing moments, whether behind the lens or striking a pose, became second nature, and it was clear to me that modelling wasn’t just an interest…it was the path I wanted to follow.
What are you most excited about when it comes to modeling?
What excites me most about modelling is the constant chance to transform. No two shoots are ever the same, and I love the challenge of adapting to different styles, moods, and creative visions. It’s a career that pushes me out of my comfort zone, whether it’s on a runway or in front of the camera, and that feeling of growth is something I thrive on.
I’m also inspired by the connections you make in this industry from meeting photographers, stylists, and other models who all bring their own artistry to the table. At the end of the day, it’s the mix of creativity, travel, and collaboration that keeps me excited for what’s ahead.
Can you share with us some advice you have for models wanting to get into the industry?
My advice for people wanting to start in modelling would be to stay patient and not take rejection personally. This industry moves fast, but it also takes time to find your lane. When you’re starting out, take plenty of natural photos. The importance of good digitals (pictures of your full body, face, front and side) is key, and don’t be afraid to post them or send them to agencies.
Confidence is everything in this industry too, but being humble and open to learning from others is just as important. Like most things, putting in the effort and staying consistent will always bring good results for your career. At the end of the day, modelling should feel like joy, not pressure. Don’t lose sight of the excitement that made you want to start in the first place.
share a fun fact about yourself!
A fun fact about me is that even though I’m 6’3”, I somehow still manage to trip over flat ground on a regular basis. When I’m not modelling, I spend a lot of time skiing in the winter, which is probably where my balance is actually best.
I’m also learning Korean on the side, which has been a fun challenge and something I hope I can use if modelling ever takes me abroad.
