Answers to Q&A

What INSPIRED you to become a model?

Growing up as a very tall girl I was told to pursue modeling somewhat often, although I never took it seriously. It was only when I was scouted in Vancouver while out for brunch, and with a little persuasion from my mum, that I decided to look into it. I met with a couple of agencies in the city and it became clear pretty quickly that the agents and professionals saw something in me, which I didn’t. It was definitely intimidating to begin with, and I didn’t have much guidance or anyone to look up to or to ask for advice from. However after meeting with Lizbell Agency who clearly stood out as the best in the city, I ended up signing with them.  I felt super comfortable right off the bat, and things moved super quickly! With their guidance and support it has been such an amazing experience so far, and such a wonderful opportunity. I feel so lucky to have been scouted and pushed to pursue a career in this industry.

What are you most excited about when it comes to modeling?

Before modeling I had a ton of misconceptions about what the industry entailed, and I feel that from an outside perspective, the artistry, creativity, and community can often be disregarded. I grew up going to a performing arts school and have always really valued creativity. When it comes to this job, the aspects that excite me most are working with and getting to know such interesting, intelligent, creative and talented people, especially when shooting creative projects and editorials. Getting the opportunity to meet and work with such interesting and artistic people to create images, stories, and shows is definitely what I feel most passionate about when it comes to this job. The friends and relationships I’ve made with people around the world through this industry has also been such an exciting part, and looking at what my friends are creating is super inspiring.

Can you share with us some advice you have for models wanting to get into the industry?

My biggest advice for aspiring models is to be patient and to not take things too personally. It is definitely easier said than done, but the industry is so complex and things take persistence and time. Comparison can be really challenging to deal with and it’s so important to have strong relationships with your agencies and to trust the process and yourself.

I would also advise any aspiring models to take every risk and opportunity you can and, if you want to do runway, practice your walk! It’s harder than it looks!!

share a fun fact about yourself!

A fun fact about me is that when I was little I could walk anywhere on my hands! It seems that I’ve lost this skill with age, but I remember being in elementary school and getting in trouble all the time for walking around on my hands!
