Answers to Q&A

What INSPIRED you to become a model?

My name is Malachi Morris, and for as long as I can remember, style has been my native language. My father likes to remind me that even at four years old, I couldn’t leave the house unless my outfit matched perfectly. If the colors didn’t align, neither did my mood. Creativity has always surrounded me like air, my father’s modeling, poetry and music showcases.  My brother Nate’s music production, and my brother Eli’s eye for film, photography, and visual storytelling. In my family, creativity isn’t just encouraged; it’s inherited. It runs through us the way rhythm runs through a heartbeat.

I stepped in front of the camera before I ever fully understood what a camera was at just three weeks old, I appeared on greeting cards. People would tell me throughout my childhood that I should consider modeling, but I never took the idea seriously. It wasn’t until I was sixteen, after a small photoshoot with my brother Eli, that something clicked. When I saw those photos, I felt a pull, a sense of recognition, like meeting a version of myself I had always known but never formally introduced. I brought the images to my father, seeking direction. Together we submitted to seven agencies, and all seven responded. After careful research and conversation, I chose the one that aligned with my vision. My first professional job was a three-day campaign with Canada Goose and from that moment, I was hooked.

What are you most excited about when it comes to modeling?

Growing up in a creative household, I’ve stood behind the camera just as confidently as I stand in front of it. I have directed shoots, assisted with videos, shaped set designs, and contributed to the creative process in ways that have sharpened my eye and deepened my appreciation for visual artistry. But standing in front of the camera offers a different kind of expression, a freedom that feels like home. Fashion couture, for me, is not just clothing; it is a form of truth-telling, a language of identity. Through my own designs, my styling, or while working alongside industry greats, I feel most myself when I can express who I am: confident, grounded, and creatively free.

Can you share with us some advice you have for models wanting to get into the industry?

Modeling as a career is far from easy; it is a path filled with highs and lows, opportunities gained and opportunities missed. But I’ve learned that resilience is part of the craft. When you aren’t selected for a job, it’s not a rejection of your worth; it’s simply that your look wasn’t the right fit for that specific creative vision. Taking it personally only blocks the growth this industry requires. The key is to understand the business, see where your uniqueness fits within an agency’s roster, and approach each opportunity with clarity, confidence, and thoughtful due diligence.

share a fun fact about yourself!

A fun fact about me is that my creative experience extends far beyond modeling. Thanks to the guidance of my father and brothers, I’ve had the freedom to explore every corner of my own artistic world. I’ve worked background on movie sets, directed models, assisted with camera operations, built and designed sets, participated in fashion styling and fashion design, and contributed to film and video production. I’ve been fortunate to experience creativity from every angle in front of the camera, behind it, and all around it. These experiences shape the way I move, the way I see, and the way I bring my full creative self into every project I pursue.
