Answers to Q&A
Why did you become a model?
I’ve always been drawn to fashion, even from a young age. I didn’t know exactly what path I would take, but I knew I wanted to be part of the industry. I have always been an artistic person for as long as I can remember. I grew up dancing and cheerleading which really allowed me to show creativity through my movements. Fashion had that same kind of pull on me ever since I can remember. Modelling became the natural way for me to express that passion.
What makes you special?
I believe it's a fusion of my creativity and my ability to connect with people. I’ve always been a people person and find it easy to build rapport and understand the energy around me. I feel as though I am very adaptable and can easily mold myself to whatever the shoot or job requires, knowing how to bring the right vibe or energy to get the shot. On top of that, I bring my own creativity, passion, and determination to everything I do.
What are you passionate about?
My passions include art, design, travel, food and wellness. However the one thing that sticks out to me is how passionate I am about traveling the world and experiencing new countries, culture, and people. I feel as though I’m meant to explore rather than stay in one place, and I’m very comfortable being on my own in a new country. Modeling has given me the chance to collaborate with incredible photographers, makeup artists, stylists etc everywhere I go, and I love learning from different perspectives which I feel has shaped me and helped me grow as a person, in my career and in my life. At the heart of it, I’m passionate about connection, whether that’s through creativity or culture.
When you are not modeling, what do you do on your day OFF?
When I’m not working, I love spending time with my friends, whether that’s walking around the city together and grabbing a matcha or sitting at home. I’ve also been getting into cooking and baking, especially since going gluten free, and I enjoy experimenting with new recipes and discovering different meals to enjoy.
Another big part of my free time is movement. I go to pilates about three times a week and it always makes me feel good. It’s definitely one of my favourite ways to recharge and stay connected to my body.
If you could give an aspiring model advice, what would it be?
If I could give an aspiring model any advice, I’d say don’t give up. This industry is full of challenges, but persistence pays off. Never take rejection or criticism personally, it’s rarely about you and it doesn’t define your worth.
I remember my first time traveling abroad and I was disappointed because I didn’t seem to be getting the jobs I wanted, but I kept going. Whatever is meant for you will come to you, sometimes not at the time you’d expect, but it will come. We are all on different paths. Be confident in yourself and stay true to who you are, because authenticity always shines through.
