Answers to Q&A
What INSPIRED you to become a model?
What inspired me to become a model was the people I held close and engaged with day to day. People consistently tell me to apply and put myself out there, from friends, strangers, and even when getting approached by a scout at a Shawn Mendes concert years ago. But too shy to start and even thinking about myself in that space, I wrote it off as an out-of-reach dream for younger me. As I grew up from raiding my mom’s shoe collection, walking in those heels too big to fit, to me developing my own fashion sense and starting to build my own collection, my own creativity walking into my own path. I eventually caved this past summer and applied online, even with a few doubts and nerves on my mind. But now, where I am at this present time, this is something I wish to see through till the final curtain call.
What are you most excited about when it comes to modeling?
Something I’m excited about in modelling is how uncertain the future is and what it can hold. As well as the different forms art can take, especially growing up with the theatre. I love the aspect that goes against the quote: all minds don’t think alike. How do so many people have such different styles and art forms, yet still have a gorgeous uniqueness? I feel honoured to share a space to collaborate with and work for people who have a strong passion for their work, doing something they love.
Can you share with us some advice you have for models wanting to get into the industry?
Some advice is to believe in your own abilities, those who you surround yourself with and especially yourself. The notion that everyone is destined for something and there’s always a place for everyone to thrive as their own self. The future is always uncertain, and understanding that allows us to live life to the fullest. This idea shouldn't be something to fear but to embrace, that you have the most control over your own life, who you are and what you can become. You can’t fear expressing yourself through the clothes you wear, your hobbies, or being seen as “different”, because nobody is the same, and that’s the beauty of it all.
share a fun fact about yourself!
A little fun fact about me is that I’m such a big fantasy and mythology nerd. Especially from grade 4 on, I was reading 400-page fantasy books every day, obsessed with mythology, and learning it more than my actual schoolwork. To this day, I still have a trivia night for this category. Tag me in, and I’ll take us to victory for sure.
